²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Welcomes Ambassador Shikata Noriyuki for Lecture on Japan-Malaysia Relations & FOIP

On 24th March 2025, the University of Tsukuba, Malaysia (²ÝÝ®´«Ã½) had the distinct honor of hosting Ambassador Shikata Noriyuki, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, for a special lecture titled "The Current Japan-Malaysia Relations and Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific Policy (FOIP)."
During his address, Ambassador Shikata Noriyuki emphasized Japan’s commitment to fostering a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)—a strategy that promotes cooperation over confrontation, encourages equal partnerships, and strengthens regional stability through dialogue and trust-based relationships. He also stressed the importance of human resource development as a key pillar of Japan-Malaysia relations. He recognized ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½’s contributions to this effort, emphasizing the university’s role in equipping students with essential skills and cultural knowledge.
Furthermore, Ambassador Shikata Noriyuki offered meaningful advice to ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ students—encouraging them to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and discipline and to serve as role models for future students. His message underscored the importance of leadership, responsibility, and cross-cultural understanding.
